Market News October 19, 2023

Hi Market Friends,

We’ve reached the end of our 2023 Market season, and what a great season it’s been! We are grateful for all of the vendors who’ve brought such a rich variety of local produce, foods, and unique artisanal offerings to the market to share with our community.
We also thank all of the local singers and musicians who’ve serenaded and entertained market goers, vendors, and volunteers throughout the season.

Volunteers are vital to the success of Westfield Farmers Market, and the Market Manager would like to thank the WFM volunteer staff, without whom this Market would not exist.  Our volunteers bring a wide range of life experiences and talents to WFM to help cultivate a gathering place that connects our community with local farms, food vendors, crafters, and artisans.

As we close out this season, the apples and fall produce are plentiful, there are Market Gift Certificates available to be purchased for the holidays (they never expire!) and local artisans have worked hard to offer their unique hand-made items to our customers. Thank you all for joining us this season- stay tuned after the new year for information about next year!

For those customers who are unable to travel to farm stands after the close of the Market on Oct 19th, remember to use your HIP benefit this week! As we have all season, we will match up to $10 for your SNAP purchases thanks to WFM’s SNAP Match sponsors.

HIP (Healthy Incentives Program)

If you are a SNAP customer, you have HIP incentives available to use on fresh local fruits and vegetables at participating farmers markets and farm stands all year. To find open locations in the Pioneer Valley where you can use HIP, follow CISA’s Facebook page or visit their HIP Map. For open locations throughout Massachusetts, visit the DTA’s HIP Map.

Rachel’s Table provides food via the vendors and patrons of the Westfield Farmers’ Market to “Reduce Waste and Relieve Hunger.” Market customers may bring unexpired non-perishable items from home, or make fresh produce purchases for Rachel’s Table the day of the Market, and bring them to the Market Table, where they will be held until pickup at the end of the day. Rachel’s Table volunteers will deliver to agencies that feed the food insecure in Westfield as well as further into Hampden, Hampshire or Franklin Counties. Your donations will go far in alleviating hunger amongst our neighbors.
